CESCO: Teck's QB2 could see further expansion to become top five copper producer, CEO says

The Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 (QB2) project will be a top 20 copper producer and a future third phase expansion would put it in the top five, the chief executive officer of Teck Resources Ltd said.

The current Quebrada Blanca mine, located in the Tarapac?? Region of northern Chile, is expected to see cathode production end this year at reduced rates. QB2 will develop the deeper sulphide resource underlying the existing operation, Don Lindsay told delegates at CRU's 18th World Copper conference in Santiago, Chile on Tuesday April 9. "Perhaps more exciting than QB2 itself is the potential beyond QB2," Lindsay said....
