CHINA HRC: Prices surge on restocking after long holiday [CORRECTED]

China's hot-rolled coil prices surged on Friday October 9, as a result of buyers returning to the market to restock on the first day back after the eight-day Golden Week holiday.

Domestic
Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,880-3,900 yuan ($571-574) per tonne, up 70 yuan per tonne from Wednesday September 30
Northern China (Tangshan) - weekly assessment: 3,780-3,830 yuan per tonne, up 60-100 yuan per tonne
Traders in China garnered more orders on Friday compared with the days leading up to the week-long national holiday, they told Fastmarkets, with downstream buyers rushing to restock after the trading suspension.
