CHINA REBAR: Fears over Wuhan virus cloud market

China's rebar market remained quiet on Thursday January 23 with most participants already on holiday for the Chinese New Year, though the emergence of a mysterious respiratory virus in the country has resulted in a bearish outlook for prices after the break.

Domestic
Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,640-3,670 yuan ($527-531) per tonne, unchanged
Northern China (Beijing): 3,540-3,560 yuan per tonne, unchanged
The market has been stagnant this week since most participants started their breaks well ahead of the week-long public holiday from Friday to mark the Chinese New Year.
