China's CRC, HDG export markets stable amid brewing trade war

Export prices for Chinese cold-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized coil did not change over the past week, with participants retreating from the market on Tuesday June 19 following threats by United States to impose fresh tariffs on Chinese imports.

Cold-rolled coilMetal Bulletin's assessment of prices for July/August shipments of SPCC 1.0mm CRC was $620-630 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday, the same as a week earlier.One trader was heard to have concluded a transaction to South America at around $610 per tonne fob. But sources said on Tuesday that the price was significantly lower than prevailing mainstream levels - by about $15-20 per tonne - and thus is not representative of the market."[That trader] must be aggressively short-selling, if the information is indeed true," a Shanghai-based source said.No other deals were reported.
