China's NDRC urges action on energy targets; SHFE aluminium price hits 15-year high

China's National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC) urged all of the country's provinces to take effective measures to meet the annual energy consumption and carbon emissions targets, in its monthly press conference on Tuesday August 17.

The commission will supervise these measures, it added, especially the target of reducing energy consumption intensity.
"In the next step, our committee will further improve and strengthen the energy consumption 'dual control' system by formulating a three-year work plan to guide localities to do solid and orderly work," Meng Wei, deputy director of the political research office of the NDRC and spokesperson for the Commission, said.

"We will resolutely curb a blind launching of 'two highs' projects [with high pollution and high energy consumption]...
