China's selenium price drops to 55-month low

The price of refined selenium powder in China hit a 55-month low in the week to Friday January 15 amid sufficient supply in the market and slow demand from the downstream glass industry, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for selenium 99.9% Se min, in-whs China was 90-110 yuan ($14-17) per kg on Friday, narrowing downwards by 5 yuan per kg from 90-115 yuan per kg the previous week. The high-end represents prices for imported brands, while the low-end is for domestic brands.

The mid-point of Friday's assessed price range at 100 yuan per kg is its lowest level since June 17, 2016, when the it was at 107.5 yuan per kg.
