China's selenium price soars to more than 19-month high

The Chinese selenium price climbed to a more than 19-month high amid active trading last week, with a strengthening crude selenium market prompting sellers to raise their offers.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for selenium 99.9% Se min, in-whs China was 120-160 yuan ($18-26) per kg on Friday March 12, up by 25-40 yuan per kg (30.2%) from 95-120 yuan per kg a week earlier. The low end of the range represents domestically produced material, while prices for imported selenium were toward the middle or high end of the range.
The latest assessment is the highest since August 2, 2019, basis a midpoint of 140 yuan per kg.
Market sources told Fastmarkets that the recent strength in crude selenium prices had driven up that for downstream refined selenium.
