China's stainless steel prices keep rising despite weaker demand

China's domestic and export prices for stainless steel maintained their upward trend over the past week despite lower demand than the preceding week.

Nickel losses since last Friday sapped demand for stainless steel products, market sources said.
The three-month nickel contract on the London Metal Exchange ended Tuesday August 11's official trading session at $14,185 per tonne, down by $248 per tonne from $14,433 per tonne last Thursday. The contract went on to edge up to $14,218 per tonne on Wednesday, however.

Stainless steel cold-rolled coil 2mm grade 304 domestic (Wuxi): 14,100-14,500 yuan ($2,030-2,088) per tonne, up by 100-200 yuan per tonne from a week earlier.
