CHINA STEEL SCRAP: Importers stay away from market amid domestic losses

China's steel scrap import market has remained quiet over the past few days amid dropping domestic prices, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday March 26.

Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel scrap, heavy recycled steel materials, cfr China was $455-460 per tonne on March 26, down by $5 per tonne from Thursday's price.
Offers were heard at $480-490 per tonne cfr China for Japan origin heavy scrap (HS) in bulk, but most mills did not submit bids and were said to have no plans to import. A few consumers bid at $445-450 per tonne cfr.
