CHINA STEEL SCRAP: Price downtrend keeps demand muted

The continuing price downtrend in Asia is still keeping Chinese buyers away from the spot market, many of whom have not been actively seeking imported cargoes this week, sources said on March 17.

Bids from buyers remained at $480 per tonne cfr China for HRS101 heavy scrap materials while offers were at $490 per tonne cfr China. Key market participants estimated prices were at $480-485 per tonne cfr China.
Fastmarkets' assessment for steel scrap, heavy recycled steel materials, cfr China was at $480-485 per tonne on Wednesday March 17, unchanged day on day.
