China has basically completed capacity cuts in the steel sector, said Shen Ying, general accountant of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) on Wednesday January 17. Moving forward, China will push for a technology upgrade in the steel industry.

In 2018, the country aims to further restructure the coal industry and reduce capacity by more than 10 million mt. Capacity cut efforts will also be reinforced in the nonferrous metals, ship building and coal-fired power industries.
