Hsikwangshan Twinkling Star Co, a major Chinese antimony producer, suspended production last week due to a fatal safety accident, giving antimony suppliers in the country the confidence to raise offer prices on expectations of reduced supply, market participants told Fastmarkets.

The Lengshuijiang-headquartered company ceased production soon after the accident that caused one death and could be offline until the end of May, a market source familiar with the issue told Fastmarkets. This could result in a reduction of around 1,500 tonnes of antimony metal supply, according to market estimates.
Hsikwangshan Twinkling Star could not be reached for comment as of the time of writing.
