Chinese bismuth price flat amid slow spot activity

China's bismuth price was unchanged in an inactive spot market last week, with cargo holders maintaining firm offers and selling cautiously.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for bismuth 99.99% Bi min, in-whs China, was at 41,000-42,500 yuan ($5,997-6,216) per tonne on Friday September 11, unchanged since August 28.
The price reached its current level late last month after rising continuously since July 10, when it was assessed at 34,000-35,000 yuan per tonne.

The stable bismuth price is beyond market participants' expectations; some had previously estimated the market would weaken because the quickly rising prices were driven mainly by investment interest rather than downstream demand, and noted such an upward trend could...
