Chinese manganese flake export price plunges on weak overseas demand, anticipation of supply recovery

China's export price of electronic manganese flake dropped by $60-150 per tonne on Friday February 28 after overseas buyers retreated on sufficient stocks and expectations supply will improve now that producers in southwest China are resuming operations, market sources said.

Fastmarkets assessed the price of manganese 99.7% electrolytic manganese flake, fob China at $1,700-1,850 per tonne on Friday, down by 5.6% from the previous week.
The decline in the export price reflected overseas buyers' wait-and-see mood after the price surged in early February.
The fob China price had soared to a nine-month high of $1,850-1,950 per tonne on February 14, from $1,560-1,600 per tonne on January 31.
