Chinese selenium price range widens downward on consecutive monthly falls in upstream costs

The low end of the domestic Chinese selenium price was pulled down over the past week by lower raw material costs as a result of ample supply of upstream crude selenium.

Fastmarkets assessed the selenium 99.9% Se min, in-whs China price at 85-135 yuan ($12-19) per kg on Friday October 11, down by 5 yuan on the low end from 90-135 yuan per tonne the week before. The price has fallen by 47.6% from 180-240 yuan per kg in the beginning of this year and is now trading at a three-year low, when the price was at 85-100 yuan per kg in May 2016.
