Chinese stainless steel mills take varied tacks on September chrome tenders

China's leading stainless steel mills - Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Tisco), Tsingshan Group and Baosteel - have taken diverse approaches to their September tender prices for high-carbon ferro-chrome, Fastmarkets heard on Thursday September 5.

Tisco has raised its tender price by 50 yuan ($7) per tonne month-on-month to 6,100 yuan ($852) per tonne, while Tsingshan and Baosteel have rolled over their prices from August, at 6,296 yuan and 6,300 yuan per tonne respectively.The rollover of tender prices by two mills was not expected by the majority of market participants, who had widely believed that the latest tender prices from all three mills would rise by 50-200 yuan per tonne."The tender price announcements have been delayed [for a few days], which indicated that the stainless steel mills were making hard...
