(IDEX Online) - The pearl necklace worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1953 movie Roman Holiday is to be auctioned by Christie's Geneva in an online sale that opens tomorrow (3 November). The British actress, who later starred in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), wore simple, single-strand pearl necklaces as a signature part of her look. Her jewelry collection was a testament to her philosophy that "elegance is the only beauty that never fades."Hepburn, who died in 1993, chose the choker-style pearl necklace, set with cabochon sapphires, for her character Princess Anne. After filming, she returned it to jewelers Furst, together with an autographed picture of her wearing it.It was sold to private clients who have now consigned it to Christie's.
