CIS FLAT STEEL: Low prices in key regions foil attempts to raise prices

Higher offer prices from Russian producers have been heard in the export market for hot-rolled coil (HRC) and cold-rolled coil (CRC) from the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The market was not ready to accept these higher prices, however, due to lower prices in key outlet regions and falling prices for HRC exported from China, sources told Metal Bulletin on Monday July 9.As a result, Metal Bulletin's weekly price assessment for CIS-origin HRC exports was unchanged on Monday at $560-575 per tonne fob Black Sea.Russia's Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works was heard to increase its offers to $580 per tonne fob Black Sea, and compatriot producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) pushed its offers up to around $595-600 per...
