CIS LONG STEEL: Mills cut wire rod offers to attract customers

Wire rod producers in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) kept decreasing their export prices in the second half of March to attract customers, however, buying activity remained moderate amid unfavorable market fundamentals, sources said.

Wire rod offers from Russia slid to $680-690 per tonne fob from $710-715 per tonne a week earlier, while Ukraine-origin material was reported offered within the range of $690-700 fob the week before.
One customer in Europe managed to receive an additional discount and booked Ukrainian wire rod cargoes at $685-687 per tonne fob.
