CIS LONG STEEL: Prices rise amid positive market sentiment

Export prices for reinforcing bar and wire rod originating from the Commonwealth of Independent States surged in the week to Monday October 25, supported by positive market conditions.

Firstly, prices from competitive Turkish suppliers increased over the week, supported by growing import scrap and electricity costs in the country.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), export, fob main port Turkey was $750-760 per tonne on October 21, up from $725-730 per tonne a week earlier.
And Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh quality), export, fob main port Turkey was $830-840 per tonne on October 21, up from $790-810 per tonne a week before.
