CIS PIG IRON: Markets edge up on sales to Italy

The export market for pig iron from the Commonwealth of Independent States increased during the week to Thursday February 18 on sales to Italy.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for high-manganese pig iron, export, fob main port Black Sea, CIS was $500-515 per tonne on Thursday, rising $5 from $495-510 per tonne a week before.
"It seems the market in the Mediterranean region [including Italy] reacts quicker [than the United States - the largest global pig iron buyer] on positive trends in scrap and demand China," one suppliers from the CIS said.
