CIS STEEL BILLET: Market rises on new bookings, higher scrap costs

Prices in the CIS export billet market continued to climb in the last week of November, supported by the continuing uptrend in the international scrap market.

Fastmarkets' daily steel billet index, export, fob Black Sea, CIS, was $390 per tonne fob Black Sea on Friday November 29, against $384 per tonne on Monday.
Offers of CIS-origin billet were scarce because mills' allocations for December rolling were taken up amid successful sales in previous weeks, which meant there was a lack of demand in the traditional outlets of North Africa and Turkey during the week.
