CIS STEEL SLAB: Market down on weaker finished flat steel prices

Export prices for steel slab from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) decreased in the week to Monday January 18 because customers were not ready to accept the levels being asked by mills amid weakening prices for finished flat steel products.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, import, cfr main port Turkey, was $730-800 per tonne on January 15, falling from $740-805 per tonne on January 8.
The lower end of the assessment corresponded to a booking of China-origin hot-rolled coil.
