CIS STEEL SLAB: Mills keep hiking offers with growing finished flat-steel costs

Ongoing growth in finished flat-steel products prices, both domestically and in the main customers' markets, spurred slab producers in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) to increase offers again, sources said.

Turkish producers - one of the main buyers of CIS slab - sold hot-rolled coil (HRC) at $1,020-1,030 per tonne fob to North Africa and at $1,020-1,050 per tonne fob to the United States in the week to April 16, up by $45-70 from $975-980 per tonne in deals a week earlier.
In Italy, another major outlet for CIS slab, steel plate prices surged to ?,?800-820 ($958.39-982.36) per tonne ex-works in deals, up from ?,?740-760 per tonne earlier in April.
