CIS STEEL SLAB: Prices up again on rising finished flat steel costs

Prices for steel slab from the Commonwealth of Independent States continued to climb in the week to Monday April 12, supported by persistent growth in finished flat steel prices both domestically and in customers' markets.

Offer prices for hot-rolled coil (HRC) from producers in Russia and Ukraine have jumped to $895-960 per tonne fob, depending on the coil weight and supplier, up from $885-905 per tonne fob heard last week.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel HRC, export, fob Black Sea, CIS, was $895-915 per tonne on April 12, up from $885-895 per tonne on April 6.
In Turkey, one of the main slab markets, HRC producers offered material to local customers at $980-1,000 per tonne ex-works for August production, and deals were made at $970-980 per tonne ex-works.
