Cobalt sulfate prices drop, but near-term decline limited - sources

Cobalt sulfate prices in China retreated slightly in the first half of the week with concerns over a persistent slump in demand outweighing feedstock supply constraints, but market participants expect any drop to be only limited in the near term.

Nevertheless market participants are taking a watchful stance in terms of the moves of cobalt sulfate - and whether the persistent weak demand might accelerate the downturn or slow the downswing will be a main theme for longer period of time.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for cobalt sulfate 20.5% Co basis, exw China, edged down to 46,000-47,000 yuan ($6,458-6,598) per tonne on Wednesday June 3, down 1.1% from 46,500-47,500 yuan on May 29.
