Cobalt metal prices in China continued to rise during the first half this week following strength in local cobalt futures, which are partially being supported by an upturn in the cobalt sulfate market and fresh buying interest from investors.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for cobalt 99.8% Co min, ex-works China was 240,000-250,000 yuan ($33,839-35,249) per tonne on Wednesday May 13, up by 5,000 yuan per tonne (2.1%) from 235,000-245,000 yuan per tonne on May 8.
