Codelco, unions enter into agreement to ensure ops continuity

Chilean state-owned copper producer Codelco and the Federation of Copper Workers (FTC) - which represents all unions related to the miner - entered into an agreement on Friday March 20 to maintain some level of production in the company during the state of emergency declared by the federal government.

While copper output will be adversely affected to some degree during the lockdown, workers and management were committed to sustaining operational continuity, a Codelco spokesperson told Fastmarkets.

"We are securing operational continuity in order to keep producing," the spokesperson said. "We will be analyzing the effect of the actions taken...
