Software solutions are inspiring strategic partnerships between the mining industry and education providers as they collaborate to support skills growth across Victoria's METS sector.

The tech-led transformation of the global mining industry is unlocking vast potential across the resources sector but, in many instances, the new landscape requires people with new skills.

Upskilling people to work in a continually evolving environment is essential for miners needing to get the best out of their workforce. While Victoria is already a leader in mining and resources education, within a changing industry it's important for the broader METS eco-system to work together.

Dassault Syst??mes, a multinational software applications and services company, is engaging with business, the Victorian Government and education providers to produce a STEM-education and an industry-based curriculum in mining-related and engineering disciplines.

Dassault Syst??mes Client Executive - Business Transformation Ravi Jain described the company's strategy as stretching across multiple sectors.

"While the mining industry faces challenges that are unique to its value chain, most of these have been experienced in other industries in one form or another, and shared learning is critical in enabling a culture of innovation, empowering today's and tomorrow's mining sector", said Mr Jain.

"Beyond the provision of digital technology, our mission is to link mining stakeholders and empower the Workforce of the Future to create a sustainable mining industry."

The expansion of Dassault Syst??mes' Australian headquarters in Melbourne is testament to Victoria's status as Australia's METS leader, producing close to one-third of the country's engineers from world-class universities and research centres.

Dassault Syst??mes' expansion and investment in Victoria align with the Victorian Government's commitment to continue to grow the knowledge economy and the skills required to maintain the state's position as a hub for STEM education, technology and mining services.

IMARC 2018 is an opportunity for global and local companies to connect with innovative Australian mining businesses and companies working in the METS sector.

Dassault Syst??mes is sponsoring IMARC for the first time.
