RAPAPORT... An 8.82-carat, fancy-intense-purple-pink diamond ring with a high estimate of $6 million is set to headline the New York auction at Christie's next month.The pear modified brilliant-cut, VVS1-clarity diamond, called The Fuchsia Rose, has the potential to be internally flawless, Christie's said last week. The auction house will offer the stone at its Magnificent Jewels sale on April 13, alongside two other colored diamonds that will feature prominently.The first, a ring bearing a cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 11.63-carat, fancy-blue, VS1-clarity diamond, flanked by shield-shaped diamonds, is set to go under the hammer for $2.5 million to $3.5 million. The other, a ring set with a square emerald-cut, 15.31-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VVS2-clarity diamond, is expected to bring in between $1 million and $1.5 million.Other notable items include a round brilliant-cut, 21.05-carat, E-color, internally flawless diamond ring with an upper estimate of $2.4 million, and a round brilliant-cut, 2.44-carat, fancy-intense-pink diamond ring with a price of $1 million to $2 million. Meanwhile, a round brilliant-cut, 51.28-carat, I color, SI1-clarity diamond ring is set to fetch up to $1.8 million.Another highlight is a historic antique diamond and enamel pendant-watch by Tiffany & Co., called Subway. The timepiece, which will be offered for the first time at auction, was specially commissioned to commemorate the opening of the New York City subway system. The piece contains a domed crystal on one side filled with earth taken at the March 24, 1900, ground-breaking. It also features the initials of the original owner, Georgie Annie McDonald, the daughter of John McDonald, who headed the construction project when the subway was built.Additionally, a collection of jewels from the Rockefeller family, Bulgari, Cartier, JAR, Tiffany and Van Cleef & Arpels will be on offer.
