Coronavirus jitters to delay output resumption at Chinese copper fabricators, sources say

Copper fabrication businesses across China remained on extended closure and were expected to restart operations gradually from Monday February 10 at the earliest, but normal functioning was not expected until the end of February or early in March, Fastmarkets has learnt.

China's public holiday for the lunar new year was initially to run for a week from January 24, but it was extended by the Chinese government to February 3 in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus infection that originated in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province.
Many cities and provinces, including the major copper consumption hubs of Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu, went on to extend the break until the end of this week when the number of infection cases grew.
