(Corrects year-on-year measure in opening pragraph to 2016 from"last year")TOKYO, March 1 (Reuters) - Japanese companies raisedspending on factories and equipment in October-December by 4.3percent from the same period in 2016, Ministry of Finance datashowed on Thursday.Excluding software, capital expenditure rose 3.1 percentfrom the previous quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis.The data will be used to calculate revised gross domesticproduct figures due March 8.A preliminary estimate last month showed that Japan'seconomy had expanded at a 0.5 percent annualised rate in thefourth quarter, marking the longest continuous streak of gainssince the 1980s bubble economy.
