CSN expects Brazil apparent flat steel use to grow in 2019, import share to remain stable

Companhia Sider??rgica Nacional (CSN) expects Brazilian apparent consumption of flat steel to grow in 2019 while imports' share of usage remains stable, an investor presentation published on Wednesday December 12 showed.

The company estimated that Brazilian flat steel consumption will reach 13.43 million tonnes next year, 6% above the 12.67 million tonnes forecast for 2018. Import penetration in both years is expected to stay at 12%, according to CSN.Additionally, CSN plans to invest 1.3 billion Reais ($335 million) in the 2019-23 period to revamp its blast furnaces and hot rolling equipment, as well as its sintering and coke oven...
