(Kitco News) - Cypress Development (TSXV:CYP) reported Wednesday that the assembly of the pilot plant for the company's100%-owned Clayton Valley lithium project in Nevada is complete.
According to the company'sstatement, the pilot plant is intended to confirm the extraction of lithiumfrom the company's Clayton Valley lithium project, following therecommendations outlined in the company's PFS, and will provide the datanecessary to carry the project forward to the feasibility level. The pilotplant is located at a metallurgical facility approximately 100 miles south ofthe project.
With assembly and operationaltesting of component equipment finished, test extraction of lithium from theproject's sample material will begin next week. The pilot plant will utilizechloride-based leaching combined with the Chemionex-Lionex process for directlithium extraction, the company added.
"The completion of the pilotplant represents a significant milestone and marks the culmination of months ofwork by Cypress, our consultants, and contractors" stated President and CEO BillWilloughby. "The testing ahead will be one of the larger piloting efforts toextract lithium from clay in the world, and the only one based on a chlorideapproach to leaching."
