DADA jv gets financing inducement for Gramercy bauxite residue project

ElementUS, a joint venture to extract rare earth elements and minerals from bauxite residue, has received a financing inducement from the US state of Louisiana that will take it a step closer to constructing its facility there.

The company is owned by DADA Holdings LLC, the principal owner of New Day Aluminum, and Canada-based green technologies firm Enervoxa. It plans to build a 1-million-tonne-per-year reclamation, separation and beneficiation facility near New Day's Gramercy alumina refinery, and to begin marketing the offtake of the various component materials.
Gramercy is the sole remaining alumina refinery in the United States and has roughly 35 million dry tonnes of mineral-rich bauxite residue in open and readily accessible storage areas at the site.
