DAILY STEEL SCRAP: Mills go silent after booking seven cargoes

Turkish steel mills were quiet in the deep-sea scrap market on Friday September 11, avoiding firm offers and focusing on finished steel sales, sources said.

The mills booked seven deep-sea cargoes earlier this week before withdrawing from the market on Thursday.Although offer prices remained firm later in the week, Turkish steelmakers ignored these amid strong supply, according to sources."Suppliers in the United States are currently offering HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $305 per tonne cfr. But I am sure some of them are ready to sell at $300 per tonne.
