DAILY STEEL SCRAP: Mills step back from deep-sea markets; prices still firm

Turkish steel mills made no deep-sea bookings on the first working day of the week amid increasing prices, but were still active in the billet import markets, sources said on Monday November 30.

After booking at least ten deep-sea cargoes last week, the mills stepped back from the deep-sea markets. But market participants believe they will still need material given current stock levels.

"The Turkish mills are quiet in the deep-sea markets but prices of steel and domestic scrap continue to rise. I think the imported scrap prices will exceed $360 per tonne cfr on HMS 1&2 (80:20)...
