DAILY STEEL SCRAP: Mills still quiet in deep-sea market, awaiting clarity over direction of prices

Turkish steel producers remained largely quiet in the deep-sea scrap market on Monday November 2, awaiting clarity over the price direction after a national holiday halted trade in the middle of last week.

After the public holiday on Wednesday and Thursday October 28-29, a powerful earthquake struck the Izmir region on Friday October 30, resulting in at least 91 deaths and injuring about 1,000 others.
However, the steel production in the Izmir region has not been interrupted, sources told Fastmarkets.
