DAILY STEEL SCRAP: Turkish mills quiet after booking five deep-sea cargoes

Turkish steel producers made no deep-sea scrap bookings on Friday June 11, after deals were heard earlier this week at increasing prices, market participants said.

Steel mills in Turkey booked at least five deep-sea cargoes earlier this week in response to the recent recoveries in the domestic and export rebar markets.

A steel mill in the Iskenderun region booked a Canadian cargo comprising 9,500 tonnes of heavy melting scrap 1&2 (95:5), 7,500 tonnes of rails and 12,000 tonnes of plate & structural (P&S) scrap at an average price of $525 per tonne on Wednesday June 9.
