De Beers generates $490M in rough diamond sales in eighth cycle of 2021 on 'robust' demand

(Kitco News) - Anglo American announcedtoday that the value of rough diamond sales (Global Sightholder Sales andAuctions) for De Beers' eighth sales cycle of 2021 (period from 4 October to 19October) was $490 million.

Bruce Cleaver, CEO of DeBeers Group, said, "As the diamond sector prepares for the key holiday season andUS consumer demand for diamond jewellery continues to perform strongly, we sawfurther robust demand for rough diamonds in the eighth sales cycle of the yearahead of the Diwali holiday when demand for rough diamonds is likely to beaffected by the closure of polishing factories in India."

De Beers is the world'sleading diamond company with in-depth expertise in the exploration, mining andmarketing of rough diamonds since 1888. The company's diamond mining spans twocontinents and four countries - Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa.
