RAPAPORT... Albert Milton, managing director of De Beers'Botswana joint venture, has died, the company said Friday. Milton passed away early Friday morning after becomingunwell Thursday night in Johannesburg, where he was admitted to the hospital. "De Beers is shocked and saddened by the sudden death ofAlbert Milton," the miner said. "We extend our deepest condolences to Albert'sfamily, relatives and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this mostdifficult time." A 25-year veteran of De Beers, Milton was promoted tomanaging director of Debswana in November 2018. Prior to that, he served asgeneral manager of the company's Jwaneng mine, and has held managementpositions at other De Beers projects, including the Orapa, Venetia, Letlhakaneand Damtshaa mines. Lynette Armstrong, Debswana's chief financial officer, willbegin as acting managing director at Debswana immediately, De Beerssaid.
