RAPAPORT... The Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) has launched its firstscholarship in partnership with the Mandela Institute for Development Studies(MINDS). The grant will go to a student from a diamond-producingcountry whose chosen field of postgraduate study facilitates improving thequality of life for Africans. "We are thrilled to be partnering with the Mandela Institutefor Development Studies and to continue the legacy of giving back to the verycommunities where diamonds are found," said DEF president and GIA senior vicepresident Anna Martin.
