The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was an upbeat 94-58-138. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 11 points to 825 while rough diamond prices fell 0.2 percent this week. Ken MacNeill and George Read's former Shore Gold Inc. began life as Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) on a high note, gaining 3.5 cents to 21 cents on 78,000 shares.
Patrick Power and Scott Eldridge's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD), unchanged at 16 cents on 111,000 shares, is sending a drill to its Timantti diamond project in Finland. Mr. Eldridge, who replaced Mr. Power as president and chief executive officer in November, says that drilling will start shortly. While drilling had been promised, the initial focus will be on new targets, not the Wolf kimberlites already discovered on the property. (The two Wolf pipes, Black and White, were discovered and tested in the mid-2000s. A third, unnamed kimberlite, was drilled at the same time but not identified as a kimberlite until now.)
