The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a poor 61-99-130. The TSX Venture Exchange gained two points to 832 while rough diamond prices inched slightly higher over the past week. Ken MacNeill's Star Diamond Corp. closed unchanged at 17 cents on 174,000 shares. The company, Shore Gold Inc. until last week, has a new name and a new plan to bulk sample its Star pipe in Saskatchewan this year, but it has its same old share price.
Dr. Stewart Blusson's Archon Minerals Ltd. (ACS $0.87) has received just over $815,000 in its first royalty payment from the now private Dominion Diamond Corp., one of the cogs in billionaire Dennis Washington's Washington Group of Companies. The income, from fourth-quarter production on the Buffer claims is good news for a company that had a $9.3-million working capital deficiency and owed Dr. Blusson nearly $58-million at last report. (Lynx went into production in August, but the first diamond recoveries did not occur until October.)
