The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a bleak 65-113-113. The TSX Venture Exchange gained one point to 899 while polished diamond prices slumped over 2 per cent. Adriaan Bakker's Vanadiumcorp Resource Inc. (VRB) fell two cents to 13.5 cents on 1.16 million shares. The company oscillates between touting its Lac Dore vanadium deposit and a variety of vanadium technology projects.

Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), down one cent to 18.5 cents on 253,000 shares, has expanded its Mel diamond project on Melville peninsula in central Nunavut ahead of a busy exploration program planned for the property later this spring. The company has added another 7,500 hectares of claims, bringing the entire project to just over 56,000 hectares. The new ground connects the two original blocks of ground.

The new claims were staked after the company's September discovery of diamond-bearing kimberlite boulders near the up-ice termination of a well-defined indicator mineral train. The boulders, dubbed the ML-8 kimberlite, were found in an area about 100 metres long and 10 metres wide, in and just north of a small lake on the northern block of the Mel project. The lake measures about 400 metres long and 200 metres wide, but the area of interest is a magnetic geophysical anomaly straddling the northern shoreline of the lake.
