The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a ho-hum 73-85-122. The TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 831 while polished diamond prices rose 0.1 per cent. Patrick Power and Scott Eldridge's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD) closed unchanged at 18 cents on 217,000 shares. The company is active with a diamond hunt in Finland. Sheldon Inwentash and Arno Brand's Gratomic Inc. (GRAT), a Namibian graphite explorer, gained one-half cent to 10.5 cents on 5.72 million shares.
Brian Dalton and Jeff Baker's Altius Minerals Corp. (ALS), up 72 cents to $13.41 on 77,000 shares, is inching forward with its Lynx diamond project in Northern Manitoba. The company acquired the project last year and in September, it revealed that it had recovered plenty of microdiamonds from outcrop and grab sampling on the property. It was not a new discovery, as the vendors had first discovered microdiamonds on Lynx 10 years ago, but they were unable to generate much interest at the time. They were able, after a decade of intermittent work, to find a willing explorer to take up the hunt.
