The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was an 82-82-126 draw. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 843 while rough diamond prices inched higher. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY), $1.34 in the fall of 2016 but just 50 cents late last month, gained one cent to 61 cents on 530,000 shares. The company will reveal its year-end results in three weeks, which will show if it is making satisfactory progress with the diamond breakage problems at its Renard mine in Quebec.

One of the busiest explorers among Canada's dwindling group of diamond hunters, Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), closed unchanged at 21.5 cents on 1,000 shares. The company is set to start drilling its Loki diamond project, on the southern shore of Lac de Gras, 30 kilometres southwest of Ekati and 25 kilometres west of Diavik. (The drilling is timed to start as the frigid Arctic winter loosens its grip and the days get noticeably longer, although a cynic might suggest it is also timed to begin with the annual Canadian Prospectors and Developers convention in Toronto.)
