The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a poor 54-99-141. The TSX Venture Exchange fell eight points to 775 while polished diamond prices were flat. Bruce Counts's Lithoquest Diamonds Inc. (LDI) gained two cents to 53 cents on 39,000 shares. The stock is well off its early April high of 88 cents, but it remains well above the 25 cents at which it traded a month ago, before the company revealed that a sample of weathered rock had produced macrodiamonds. The 2018 field program should start soon.
Chris Taylor and Chuck Fipke's Dunnedin Ventures Inc. (DVI) closed unchanged at 29 cents on 89,000 shares. Mr. Fipke, best known as one of the co-discoverers of the Ekati diamond deposits in 1990, has boosted his position in Dunnedin. He told the regulators late last week that he bought 2.5 million shares at 30 cents in Dunnedin's recent placement, in which it sold 5.34 million shares. (Each regular share came with one-half warrant, exercisable at 35 cents over the next two years. Dunnedin also sold 250,000 flow-through shares at 40 cents.) Mr. Fipke now holds or controls 13 million Dunnedin shares, about 11.5 per cent of the total outstanding.
