(IDEX Online) - Miners in Zimbabwe have finally bowed to pressure from villagers and dismantled a camp built at a local school three years ago.Murowa Diamond Company, owned by RioZim, angered residents in the Sese area of Chivi District when it began exploratory drillings in search of commercially viable kimberlite pipes.It is now decamping from Danhamombe High School and will now set up a base elsewhere to coordinate the exploration project, according to the Harare-based Herald newspaper.Murowa owns almost 200 diamond claims in the Sese area. It is seeking new diamond deposits in addition to those at its Murowa mine, which last year produced 579,000 carats.That figure was down 15 per cent from 2019, as higher-grade became depleted and it processed lower-grade ore instead.
