East Asian stainless steel prices stable amid trading lull

East Asia's stainless steel import prices were relatively steady over the past week, with trading activity remaining low on soft regional demand, and offers staying unchanged despite declining nickel prices.

Metal Bulletin's assessment of prices for benchmark 304 stainless 2mm trimmed cold-rolled coil was $2,210-2,300 per tonne cif East Asian ports for the week ended Wednesday July 11, narrowing upward by $10 per tonne from a week earlier.Metal Bulletin's assessment of prices for benchmark 304 stainless trimmed hot-rolled coil was $2,120-2,200 per tonne cif East Asian ports for the same period. This is a new price launched on Wednesday to replace the assessment for stainless hot-rolled sheet. Last week's assessment of prices for stainless hot-rolled sheet was $2,180-2,280 per tonne cif, equivalent to around $2,120-2,200 per tonne cif for the coil product. Market participants observed sparse trading during the week....
